WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Glenville State Women's Soccer team fell to Waynesburg on the road on Saturday (Aug. 29) afternoon, 2-0, to begin the 2026 campaign. Waynesburg, who won 17 games a year ago, used a pair of second half goals to down the Pioneers.
1st Half
Neither team cound find the back of the net in the opening half, with GSU controlling much of the tempo early on. The Pioneers fired off six shots compared to Waynesburg's three, with four of those six being on goal.
Lucia Lopez logged a save as the first stanza came to a close.
2nd Half
A little under 10 minutes into the second half, Miracle Hershey used a great forward pass to net the Jackets' first goal of 2026. Glenville State found themselves in front of net throughout the half, but the Waynesburg defense continued to build a wall. Waynesburg put the finishing touches on the season-opening win at the 85-minute mark, when Hershey once again scored to make it 2-0, the eventual final.

Miracle Hershey scored both goals for Waynesburg, with Julz Mohrbacher and Lex Greenlief adding an assist each. Greenlief also had eight saves in the match.

GSU fired off 12 shots with eight being on goal in the defeat. Goalkepper
