THE OPPONENTS
EMORY & HENRY
2026 Season
The Emory & Henry Wasps opened their soccer 2026 soccer season on Sunday (Aug. 30), falling 2-1 to Lees-McRae College, but the Wasps look to improve upon last years final record of (8-6-3) as they continue the season.

Quick Look at The Wasps
Emory & Henry was selected to finish 10th out of 11 in SAC Preseason polls. Key returners like defender Bella Fairley and midfielder Cristina Ciofani, along with new recruit, Elloree Kieffer, are on the list of players to watch, all with a goal to steer the Wasps away from the expected rough finish.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE
2026 Season
The Yellow Jackets begin their 2026 season with a loss and a tie after falling to Shepherd (3-1) in their opener on the road and tying Kutztown at home. WVSU ended last season with an impressive overall record of (15-5-1), and a conference record of (14-1-1). They made it to the MEC Semifinals before their season ended in a one-point loss to the University of Charleston. The Yellow Jackets hope to mirror most of last season's results, but with a goal of the championship.

Quick Look at The Yellow Jackets
The slow start from the Yellow Jackets should not be a concern. Returning stars Rachel Okoro, Maria Alejandra Hernandez Diaz, Leila Karam, Sara París Fílter, and freshman goalkeeper Celina Seggelmann will bounce back and attempt to lead the WVSU soccer team to their fourth NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional appearance in five seasons.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
Glenville had their first match of the 2026 season on Saturday (Aug. 29), which ended in a 2-0 loss to Waynesburg. Despite having eight shots on goal, the Pioneers could not get one to hit the back net.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
The Pioneers welcomed several new recruits in the offseason after new head coach, Nat Wilkes, took the position. Many freshman recruits got starting opportunities in the opener alongside strong returning seniors, Aitana Veijo and Valentina Quiroz. The Pioneers will also rely on returners Martina Roig, Sofia Jalaksova, Lucia Lopez and Margaux Fernandez, along with others, to improve their (6-12-1, 5-9-1 MEC) record this season.
