SALEM, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team traveled to Salem tonight, picking up a 3-1 non-conference victory on the road. The Pioneers improved to (3-2) on the young season with the victory.
The Pioneers came out strong in the opening stanza, quickly taking control and finishing with a 25-14 set winner. Glenville State continued its momentum in the second set, using strong offensive and defensive play to take a 25-20 victory and move within one set of closing out the match. Salem then responded in the third set, gaining momentum and taking the set, 25-21, to cut the Pioneers lead to 2-1. Glenville State answered in the fourth set with a composed performance, maintaining their lead and closing out the match with a 25-20 win to start the long week with a W.

Alezandra Vigneron led the team in kills with 15 while Brianna Beyerle had six. Amari Nunez led in assists with 28, and Lorin Turkdogan had two. Brianna Beyerle led the Tigers in digs with 17, while Amari Nunez had 10.

Gracie Brown led the Pioneers with an impressive 17 kills as
Deniz Selen Yazar added 11.
Elitsa Peneva had 25 assists and
Irmak Bezek logged 15 while
Kendel Harris notched 13 digs and
Kennedy Navey followed up with 10.
Kassie Swink had two service aces and
Mikayla Curry had a strong five blocks.

The Pioneers travel to North Carolina on Friday (Sept. 4) to participate in the Viking Classic. GSU will play both Belmont Abbey and Kutztown on Friday. Start times are 12:30 & 4:30 p.m.
