BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Soccer team traveled to Buckhannon earlier today (Sept. 13) to take on West Virginia Wesleyan, as the Bobcats blanked the Pioneers, 1-0, to end GSU's two-game winning streak. The Pioneers now sit at (2-3) overall and (2-1) in league play.
1st Half
The blue and white matched the Bobcats in shots taken in the opening half, but it would be the eventual game-winner with under two minutes left in the half that would be the difference. West Virginia Wesleyan's Kailey Garofalo found the back of the net after Ayan Ahmed dished out the assist prior to the halftime horn.
2nd Half
Glenville State looked to even things up in the second half, with two shots on goal being saved by the Wesleyan goal keeper. WVWC outshot GSU 7-4 in the closing half, but did not attempt a corner kick while the Pioneers had two opportunities from the corner. Glenville State had one final look at the back of the net with 16 seconds remaining, but another save would close the door on the Bobcats 1-0 win.

Kailey Garofalo had the lone goal of the game with Ayan Ahmed picking up the assist. Tessa Grisez led the team in shots (3) and shots on goal (3) in the win. Goal keeper Reyna Dalton had a shutout with five saves.
Glenville State
Three different Pioneers took two shots with
Solares Solano leading the team in shots on goal with two.
Lucia Lopez allowed one goal and had a season-high eight saves.

The Pioneers will welcome the newest member of the Mountain East Conference, Shawnee State, to Glenville on Wednesday (Sept. 16). The match will begin at 6 p.m. inside Ike & Sue Morris Stadium.
