A Look Your Lady Pioneers

Historically the matchup has favored the Lady Pioneers. Since Davis & Elkins joined the conference, GSU is (5-0) against the Senators. In last season's matchup, D&E gave Glenville a battle to the very end. A strong fourth quarter by GSU proved to be the deciding factor.

In Glenville State's last time out they were able to defeat the Hilltoppers of West Liberty 94-87. The Largo, Fla. native Breanna Campbell was on fire for the Lady Pioneers going off for 38 points. Campbell was able to achieve this by shooting an efficient 12-18 from the field and 13-14 from the free throw line while only making one three. In the month of January Campbell is averaging 25 points per contest, five rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

As a team, the Lady Pioneers have the #1 scoring offense across all of Division II. GSU through 14 games this season has produced 90.9 points per game. While in conference play Glenville State's offense has averaged just shy of 95 points per game. The Lady Pioneers' high-pressure style of play has been effective on the defensive end as well. GSU is forcing a conference and nation-high 29 turnovers per contest.  Glenville State continues to be one of the better teams in the MEC at defending the three. On average opponents are shooting 28.1% from deep which is third in the conference.

A Look at Davis & Elkins

In the MEC Preseason Poll Davis & Elkins was selected last but the Senators currently sit eighth in the conference standings. Head Coach Donna Carr enters her first season under the helm. Coach Carr joins D&E after spending two years a Hillsborough Community College.

The Senators are coming off a hard-fought loss to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. D&E entered the half down three but battled in the third to tie the contest at 52-52. However, Davis & Elkins's offense went cold in the final quarter only scoring 12 points.

While the Senators had a four-game slump to start off their season, D&E has found their rhythm in conference play.
