GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Soccer is set to continue Mountain East Conference play this week as they head to West Liberty tomorrow (Oct. 4) and host the Falcons of Fairmont State on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 8).

THE OPPONENTS
WEST LIBERTY
The Hilltoppers enter (3-4-2, 2-3-1 MEC), splitting their contests last week with a 4-0 loss at #15 Charleston and a 2-1 win at home over West Virginia Wesleyan.
Graduate Assistant Coach Pete McMenemy is currently the acting Head Coach for the Hilltoppers. He joined the staff in the spring of 2022. McMenemy played collegiately at Alderson Broaddus and was on the 2016 G-MAC Championship team. He has also been a graduate assistant at Midland (Neb.) and Georgetown College (Ky.).
Amelia Compston leads WLU in goals with five while also leading the team in assists with three. Morgan Kost has been a valuable second option, adding four goals on 11 shots on goal. Three other Hilltoppers have three goals as well. Zara Wickert has appeared in eight games, making 48 saves.
FAIRMONT STATE
The Falcons come in (3-5-1, 2-4 MEC) and are on a three-game losing streak. Last week, FSU fell to Concord 8-2 on the road and at home against West Virginia State 2-1.
Kernell Borneo is in his third season leading the Fighting Falcons WSOC program. In 2022, Borneo led FSU to their first MEC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Borneo-led Falcons made the MEC Tournament Semifinals in 2021. He played collegiately at Missouri Baptist and West Virginia University before picking up coaching.
Ava Behr is the team leader in goals with two, followed by five different Falcons who have each recorded a goal this season. Alejandra Puerto is the only Falcon with double-digit shots on goal with 12. At the net, Olivia Johnston is first on the team in saves with 27 while Delaney Haller has added 11.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers are (3-4-2, 1-4-1 MEC) coming into the week after losing 2-0 to #17 Frostburg State on Wednesday and defeating Salem 7-0 on Sunday.
Following her three goal performance at Salem, Merel Smets is up to seven goals on the season which is three ahead of the next Pioneer, Aitana Viejo. Four other Pioneers have also found the back of the net once and Viejo leads the team in assists with three. GSU has used three different goalies but Abigail Morales has the most saves at 12.
