THE OPPONENT
FAIRMONT STATE
2025 Season
Fairmont State enters postseason play as the No. 1 seed in the North Division after an impressive regular season, finishing (13-1-3) overall and (10-1-3) in MEC competition. The Falcons have been a dominant force on both ends of the pitch, boasting one of the top offenses in the league and one of the stingiest defenses.Â
Quick Look at The Falcons
Fairmont State is led by standout scorer Valentina Gianinetto, who has tallied ten goals on the year, along with fellow attacking threats Montserrat Diaz and Serenity Thomas, each capable of creating scoring chances from anywhere in the attacking third. The Falcons finished unbeaten on the road and posted an (8-1) home record at Duvall-Rosier Field, where they've averaged nearly three goals per game. Earlier this season, Fairmont earned a 3-0 win over Glenville State in Glenville, but the Pioneers have shown improvement and grit in the second half of the schedule, setting up an intriguing postseason rematch.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATEÂ
2025 Season
Glenville State (6-11-1, 5-9-1 MEC) clinched its second postseason berth in the last three years, earning the No. 4 seed in the South Division after Davis & Elkins' win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday finalized the standings. Despite a challenging regular season, the Pioneers have battled through adversity and now have the opportunity to extend their year in tournament play.Â
Offensively, All-MEC Second Team and Freshman Team selection Solares Solano continues to lead the charge with nine goals this season, supported by Valentina Quiroz, Aitana Viejo and Giselle Hamilton, who have all been key contributors in the attack. Glenville's defense, backed by strong goalkeeping and organized play in the back line, will look to contain Fairmont's pace while capitalizing on transition moments and set pieces.
