CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Glenville State's Men's Basketball team opened their 2023-24 season on Friday night at the University of Charleston's season opening tournament. The Pioneers fell to Gannon in the opener, 140-108.

Glenville kept it close for the game's first ten minutes, but a 9-0 Gannon surge gave them some separation at 46-37. They were able to ride this momentum to a 67-41 halftime lead. Glenville would put up 57 points in the second half, but could not put a major dent into the deficit.

The Final Stats
Five different Pioneers hit double figures, led by Dom Penn with 29 points. He was followed by James Franklin with 16, Remy Lemovou 15, Devin Collins 13, and A.J. Boyd 10. Franklin posted a team-high seven rebounds, and Boyd a team-high three assists. 

Gannon was led Ernest Shelton with 24 and Josh Omojafo with 21.
