Men’s Basketball Takes Road Loss to Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell to the University of Charleston 91-83 tonight in the capital city. The Golden Eagles hit 15 threes en route to the eight-point victory.

The first 12 minutes of the game saw five lead changes and four ties as both squads went blow for blow. In that span, guard Jordan Turbo Smith scored 13 of the 24 Pioneer points. The Golden Eagles would go up by four on multiple instances but Glenville State relentlessly fought back to take a 40-39 lead with two minutes left in the half. Even with the perseverance of the Pioneers, UC went on a 10-2 run at the end of the half to go up 49-42 after 20 minutes of play.

Charleston opened up the new half with five quick points, building the biggest lead of the game (15). At the under 10 media timeout, the Pioneers had trimmed the deficit to 10. Three minutes later, GSU cut the UC lead down to just three at 74-71 after a 7-0 run. The Golden Eagles quickly answered back with a 5-0 run to go back up by eight, creating separation once again. From there, Charleston would hold onto the lead on their way to the 91-83 win.
