GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball won their third-straight game as they defeated Salem 73-65 at home tonight. The Pioneers shot just 31% from the field, however they were able convert on 11 three-pointers and force Salem into 17 turnovers.
It was a close game for the first 10+ minutes of the opening half until GSU went on a 9-0 run to go up 26-15. The Tigers answered with a run of their own, cutting the game down to just two around the under-five media timeout. Glenville State closed out the half strong, thanks to Dominiq Penn's eight-straight points to help GSU secure a 36-29 lead at the break.
The Pioneers were able to keep the Tigers at bay, not allowing SU to get within four points for most the second half. GSU boosted their lead to 17 on a 14-2 run that lasted almost four minutes as Glenville State led 67-50 with five minutes left in the game. Salem surged to trim the deficit to just four but strong free throw shooting by Antoine Boyd Jr. and Jordan Turbo Smith down the stretch guided the Pioneers to victory.
