Box Score
Wheeling, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball secured their fifth MEC Tournament tile defeating the University of Charleston 76-59. The Lady Pioneers in back-to-back games had to complete second-half comebacks. With Glenville hitting five threes in the third they were able to overcome a seven-point deficit. With the win, the Lady Pioneers secured the regular season and tournament title for the fifth time.

While the Lady Pioneers shot better in the first quarter against Charleston the shooting woes still haunted GSU. UC's defense held MEC Player of the Year Breanna Campbell to just four points. Campbell also got in foul trouble early picking up two quickly.  The Golden Eagles backcourt duo of Trinity Palcio and Markyia McCormick got going early combing for 12 points.

Heading into the second quarter the Lady Pioneers trailed by eight 21-12. With Glenville shooting 41.2% from the field they were able to make it a one-possession game. GSU's defense shined in the second. Coach Stephen's squad was able to hold Palcio and McCormick to just six points.

Closing out the quarter Mickayla Perdue was on fire for Glenville State. While a pair of free throws by Breanna Campbell started a 13-2 run, Perdue scored nine straight to make it a two-point contest. UC in the waning seconds of the half did score a layup but a shooting foul with eighth-tenths of a second gave Glenville the chance to enter the half down two. Hya Haywood came in clutch for the Lady Pioneers knocking both down.

Coming out of the half Glenville State once again had a strong third quarter. GSU was lights out from beyond the arc hitting five threes while shooting 41.7% from three. The Lady Pioneers were able to end the quarter on a 17-4 run. During the stretch, Skylar Davidson and Chalon Miles hit shots from deep. Nine of GSU's 14 points were scored off of turnovers.

With the Lady Pioneers scoring in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter GSU was able to take their largest lead of the game 65-47. After Kamiyah Lyon's made a three, Glenville's offense would hit another cold spell. For six whole minutes the Lady Pioneers were held scoreless. The Golden Eagles brought it back to within nine but Coach Stephens's squad continued to hit their free throws.

Mountain East Conference Tournament MVP Mickayla Perdue led Glenville in scoring with 22 points. Hya Haywood was able to get it done on both ends producing 17 points and accounting for five steals. For the second time this tournament the Lady Pioneers hit ten or more threes.
