The Lady Pioneers got on the board first in the tenth inning. With a sacrifice bunt, Victoria Washinski advanced to third. Freshman Emma McLean drove in Washinski with a single through the right side. During the bottom half of the frame, Fairmont tied it up on a wild pitch. After the Lady Pioneers got the second out the Falcons drove in the game-winning run with a single up the middle.

Fairmont State in the bottom of the third was able to shift the momentum in their favor. After Katy Darnell hit a triple to right field scoring the Falcons' first run, a three-run homer tied it up 4-4. Fairmont before the end of the inning took the lead with another triple.

The Lady Pioneers in the top of the fifth had a strong chance to tie it up. GSU led off the inning with a single from Shelby Mcdaniels. Mcdaniels with an error made by the Falcons advanced to second. Addison Aguiniga followed it up with a double down the line.  Kylee Goodman got the third hit of the frame but she would be thrown out at second ending the inning.
