Pioneer Baseball Starts South Division Play with the University of Charleston

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Baseball begins inter-division play this Friday against the University of Charleston. Last Year's four-game series against the Golden Eagles was crucial for the Pioneers propelling the GSU into the postseason conversation. While Glenville currently sits fourth in their division, this year's four-game series can provide the Pioneers with a similar outlook.

Glenville enters this weekend's conference action winning four of their last five. Since the start of MEC play the Pioneer's batting average has improved. Against league opponents, GSU is hitting .284 as a team. Glenville State has also been disciplined at the plate getting on base 123 times by walks which is the third most in the league.

The Golden Eagles have won eight of their last ten. During this stretch, Charleston has scored ten or more runs on five separate occasions.

Since the start of conference play UC's team batting average has jumped to .317. The Golden Eagles have hit the second-most home runs in the MEC as well. Charleston has been able to pair their suburb hitting with a solid bullpen. The Golden Eagles have the second-best ERA and produced the most saves.
