GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team had their eight-game winning streak snapped tonight against Frostburg State at home, 90-77. FSU shot 64% from the field and held the Lady Pioneers to just 23% from three (9-40).
The Bobcats jumped out to a 15-2 lead after Glenville State scored the first points of the game, putting the pressure on GSU early. Frostburg State held the Lady Pioneers at bay for the remainder of the opening stanza, leading 25-13 going into the second quarter. It was a much different quarter for GSU in the 2nd as the Lady Pioneers stormed back and took their first lead of the game (37-36) since they led 2-0 at the start of the game. A late run by Frostburg gave the Bobcats the lead back at halftime 44-40.
Kamiyah Lyons came out of the break with a three-pointer to trim the deficit down to just one. From there, Frostburg caught fire from the field and built their lead to double digits. By the end of the quarter, the Bobcats led 78-53. A fast burst from GSU's offense to begin the final quarter allowed Glenville to get within 14, however Frostburg answered back and grew their advantage back to 20. It was too late for the Lady Pioneers as FSU closed out their 90-77 victory.
The Final Stats
Sanaiya Morris and Zhordan Shannon led the Lady Pioneers with 17 points each while Morris led the rebounding efforts with eight. Chalon Miles was also in double digits with 11 points and she led the team in assists with five.
Emilee Weakley led the Bobcats with 23 points on 10-18 shooting. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Maggie Sharp added 20 points with four three-pointers. Three other Bobcats were in double figures while Jenna Muha (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Alanna Tate (10 points, 10 rebounds) finished with double doubles.
