GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Boxing team won three bouts at their annual War in the Waco last night. This was the ninth edition.
Victoria Osborne kicked off the night for GSU boxers, fighting Ohio State's Brielle DiGiacco. The three-round fight ended in DiGiacco picking up the win, but Coach Duane Chapman was pleased with Osborne's fight. "Vicious Victoria never gave up."
Tobias Murphy fought Steven Hale from Arkansas, who came 13 hours to fight in the yearly event. Murphy outlasted Hale to pick up the first win of the night for GSU.
Wellington Lowe ended his fight early, taking care of Arkansas' Brian Soto out of the intermission in just two rounds. "Wellington did exactly what I thought he would" said Coach Chapman.
Payton Packer was the final Pioneer to step into the ring and he did not disappoint. Packer defeated Dylan Pledger out of Arkansas, capping off a successful night for GSU Boxing. Coach Chapman said that Packer "was a professional as usual."
Glenville State Boxing appreciates all those who came out and supported them in another exciting War in the Waco.
