GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State University Boxing team had two Pioneers win bouts at Saturday's (Nov. 15) War in the Waco X inside the beautiful Waco Center. The 10th edition of the boxing event can be seen on the Glenville State Athletics YouTube page

The three-plus hour night started with Glenville State's
Jacob Haynes defeating VMI Boxing Club's Christian Pinto, getting the crowd on their feet just 10 minutes into the event. A pair of Pioneers fought in the first intermission as well, with
Tobias Murphy and
Payton Packer putting up tough fights but falling to boxers out of Cincinnati and VMI. "I matched us against boxers with better records and more fights than us for the competition of getting ready for nationals this spring in Las Vegas," said head coach
Duane Chapman.
After the 20-minute intermission,
Victoria Osborne got everyone on their feet with her first win as a collegiate boxer, forcing a referee's stoppage on The Ohio State Boxing Club's Lila James.
Owen Kirk was the final blue and white boxer to fight, as the 147-pound boxer took on WVU's Carl Hoynowski, falling in a physical and intriguing fight.Â
"I believe it was the best matched War to date," added Chapman. "I am always proud of our boxers and how they represent GSU."
This was one of the biggest War in the Waco's to date, with several big schools making the trip to Glenville. "You know War in the Waco events are becoming a big night in collegiate boxing when we continue to ahve schools like USC, Georgia Tech, UNLV, Cincinnati, Ohio State and more travel to Glenville to compete in the War in the Waco."
Glenville State University Boxing appreciates everyone who purchased a table, sponsored and supported War in the Waco X. The continued uplifting from GSU and the community keeps this night as a major event on campus and in boxing.
