GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team ran away with a 38-point victory on Monday afternoon in a matchup against Pitt-Johnstown, 87-49. The Lady Pioneers forced 44 turnovers and outrebounded the Mountain Cats by 14 in the victory.
The first quarter was back and forth but GSU would have a six-point lead going into the second at 21-15, however the Lady Pioneers pulled away in the second quarter with a barrage of threes from Dream Cherry, Ashlyn Riley and Tynasia Bunting, taking a 25-point lead into the locker room.
Pitt Johnstown won the third quarter by two points after the Lady Pioneers got in foul trouble, allowing the opposition to make free throws for much of the third quarter. In the fourth, GSU would extend their lead and put the game on ice with contributions from Jhakia Gist, Ashsa Spencer, Kenyah Stubbs and Nwando Okigbo, securing the victory, 87-49.

Pitt-Johnstown
M'laya Ainsworth recorded 10 points to lead the team while Riley Childress had nine and Camille Dominick had seven. Sophia Ott led the team with seven rebounds and Childress chipped in with six. Childress was also active defensively with five steals and a block.
Glenville State
The Lady Pioneers were led by Tynasia Bunting, as she scored 21 points and hit two threes, Nwando Okigbo had 19 and also had two threes while Dream Cherry had 16 and splashed four from deep. Jhakia Gist and Ahsha Spencer both chipped in with seven points apiece. Underneath, Okigbo had 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Pioneers and Payton James recorded seven. Defensively, Okigbo was also active with five steals and Dejaan Schuler had four.

The Lady Pioneers will continue their homestand with a matchup against Salem at 10 a.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 4) for GSU's annual kid's day game.
