GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team fell to the University of Indiana Pennsylvania earlier today 7-6 at the Sue Morris Sports Complex. The Pioneers tallied four errors in the loss.
GSU 6 | IUP 7
The Pioneers started the game right where they left off from yesterday's mercy rule games, plating two runs in the top of the 1st on an RBI single up the middle from Monica Rodelo and an RBI double from Kylee Goodman. However, IUP answered back with five runs in the bottom half of the first on three-straight doubles. The Pioneers chipped into the deficit in the top of the 3rd when Monica Rodelo hit her third home run of the weekend, this time a two-run blast to make it 5-4.
In the top of the 5th, Kylee Goodman gave GSU the lead back by pulling one down the line and lifting it over the fence for a two-run HR. Carrying the lead into the bottom of the 6th, the Pioneers recorded their fourth error of the contest on a throw over to first. The error would allow two Hawks to score, taking the lead going into the 7th. GSU went 1-2-3 in the final inning as IUP finished out the 7-6 win.
