WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Glenville State Softball team dropped their first two games of THE Spring Games in Florida today, falling to Upper Iowa 3-2 in nine innings and 2-0 to Concordia-St. Paul. The Pioneer bats produced 10 hits while the pitching staff struck out 13 batters on the day.
Game One – GSU 2 | Upper Iowa 3 (9 Inn.)
The Pioneers scored their first run of THE Spring Games in the top of the 1st as Emma McLean brought Shelby McDaniels home on a dribbler to the pitcher. After dominating the first two innings of the game, Holly Brehm surrendered a run due to the Peacocks drawing a walk and ripping a triple to right, tying the game up at one all.
The bats for both sides went quiet, forcing the contest to go into extra innings. It wouldn't be until the top of the 9th when the Pioneers took the lead on an Emily Nolan single up the middle. Down a run in the bottom half of the 9th, Upper Iowa tied the game with an RBI double to center and walked it off with two outs, thanks to an RBI single to right.
