Pioneers Fall Victim to Hot No. 10 Charleston, Loses 89-73

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell to the nation's 10th best team tonight, the University of Charleston, 89-73 inside the Waco Center. The Golden Eagles shot 51% from the field and 42% from three to propel them to victory. 

By the first media timeout of the game, the Pioneers held a 13-10 advantage. A Jordan Turbo Smith three put GSU up seven (18-11) but UC went on a 13-0 run to grab the lead. Charleston led by as much as eight, however the Pioneers trimmed the deficit to one with a minute left in the half. The Golden Eagles closed the half out strong, taking a 45-40 lead into the locker room. 

In the 2nd half, UC began to take control, growing their advantage to 14 with 11 minutes left in the game. As the contest began to dwindle down, UC led 79-61 but the Pioneers went a quick run to trail by 11 with the ball. However, the Golden Eagles kept Glenville at bay for the rest of the game, closing the night out with an 89-73 win.  

The Final Stats 
Jordan Turbo Smith led all scorers with 33 points, adding four assists and four rebounds to his stat line. Trevor Chandler had 11 points and a team leading six rebounds. Devin Collins aided with seven points and DiShon DD Daniels finished with six points and five boards in the loss. 

DeAirius Barker was one of four Golden Eagles in double figures, leading with 24 points on 50% shooting. Eddie Colbert III led the rebounding efforts with eight while adding 18 points. Tyler Eberhart (16 points, five rebounds) and Shunta Wilson (11 points) were also in on the scoring. Dwaine Jones dished out an astounding 14 assists in the win.
