The Cardinals used a 2-run double in the bottom of the 1st to get the scoring started. GSU didn't take long to respond, scoring two runs of their own on a HBP and walk to tie it up at 2-2. In the bottom of the 3rd, WU stole home to regain the lead. Mason Lohr brought Luis Liriano home in the top of the 4th with an RBI single, however Wheeling once again took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning, making it 5-3.
WU blew the game wide open in the bottom of the 5th with 11 runs, going up 16-3. Glenville began to chip into the lead as the game carried on, plating two runs in the 6th, one in the 7th, three in the 8th and two in the 9th. The lead that Wheeling grew was too large to overcome as the Cardinals closed out the 16-11 win.
