THE OPPONENT
TRINE
The Thunder come in (2-0) with wins at Concordia University-Wisconsin (237.725-219.500) and at Buffalo State (246.780-123.400). The Division III program is in its fourth year of competition.
Alexis Harris is in her first year as Head Coach of the Thunder. Harris came to Trine after being an assistant coach at Frostburg State for a season, being on the sidelines when the Bobcats won the MEC Championship and made it to the NCATA National Tournament. She competed collegiately at Adrian College.
Trine finished as the runner-up at last year's NCATA Division III National Tournament, losing to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Thunder returned a good amount of that roster that made it to the DIII National Championship, leading them to their second-best total score ever last week against Buffalo State at 246.780.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers enter (1-2, 1-2 MEC) after opening the season with a win over West Liberty but dropping their last two meets to #7 Fairmont State and #6 Frostburg State.
Head Coach Taylor Broadwater mentioned earlier this week on the Pioneer Coaches show that the recent scores don't reflect the performances of the Pioneers, stating that "we're continuing to move in the right direction." Savannah Duckworth has been a bright spot, scoring 9.525 in her individual tumbling pass as well as helping the team improve scores in other team events.
