ATHENS, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team won game one of today's doubleheader against Concord 4-1 but dropped the second game 4-2. The Pioneers produced 18 hits on the day, recording two errors which came in game two.
Game One – GSU 4 | CU 1
After a slow first three innings, the 4th inning saw much more offense. The Pioneers loaded the bases in the top half but a grounder to short ended the chance for GSU. In the bottom half of the inning, Concord had a runner on second with one out, however a line drive to Addison Aguiniga allowed her to turn a double play by stepping on the bag, ending the CU opportunity.
The Pioneers left two stranded in the top of the 5th and the Mountain Lions took advantage, grabbing the lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single up the middle. GSU responded quickly in the next inning as Emma McLean hit a no doubter to left field, tying the game. From there, Aguiniga and Hannah Howe got on base for Shelby McDaniels.
McDaniels would then triple down the right field line and give the Pioneers the 3-1 lead. Holly Brehm was given an insurance run in the top of the 7th when Makenna Negley doubled in the right-center gap. In CU's final at bats, Brehm allowed a walk but sat the rest of the lineup down in order, securing the 4-1 victory.

Game Two – GSU 2 | CU 4
The scoring got started in the bottom of the 3rd when the Mountain Lions used an RBI double to right to grab the lead.
