THE OPPONENTS
SALEM

The Tigers come in (15-6) following two blowout victories over Davis & Elkins. In their doubleheader sweep of the Senators, they scored 41 runs.

Kassidy Gaines is the Interim Head Coach, marking his fourth season with the program. Before receiving the interim tag, he was the associate HC and recruiting coordinator. Gaines has coaching stops at St. Cloud State and Bemidji State, working with the pitchers. He's also predominately been working with the pitchers at Salem, coaching them to finishing the 2023 season in the top 20 in three statistical categories.

Six Tigers are batting .300 or better, led by Mackenzie Wainwright's .463 average. Wainwright is tied for the team lead in HR with Brett Ehr as both have hit five over the fence. Tyler Shinn's 28 RBI is first on the squad while mashing 3 HR so far. As a team, SU has hit 18 HR and drove 141 runs in through 21 games. Frankie Gulko leads the Salem pitching staff, posting a 2.88 ERA, 4-1 record, three complete games and 33 strikeouts.

NOTRE DAME COLLEGE
The Falcons are (4-13, 2-2 MEC) after sweeping D&E on Saturday but being swept by WVWC on Sunday. NDC then faced #10 Ashland on Wednesday, falling 17-9 to the Eagles.

Len Barker is in his 13th season leading the NDC Baseball program. In his 10 years of MEC play, he is 160-137, guiding the Falcons to six MEC Tournament appearances in that time. Notre Dame has also played for two MEC Tournament Championships during his tenure. Barker is a former MLB pitcher, playing 11 years for four teams. In 1981, Barker tossed the 10th perfect game in MLB history against the Toronto Blue Jays when he was a member of the Cleveland Indians.

Carson Petrecca brings the most pop to the NDC lineup, holding a stat line of .327 AVG, 1.041 OPS, 3 HR and 20 RBI in 17 games played. Caden Gomes leads the squad in average (.404), hits (21) and doubles (7). Alexander Jones has been impressive as well, hitting .396 with 16 RBI. NDC has struggled on the pitching side of things, throwing out a team ERA of 12.43 while giving up 174 earned runs for the year.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE

The Pioneers enter (9-10, 3-1 MEC), sweeping Fairmont State on Saturday and splitting with Frostburg State on Sunday to open MEC play.
