GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Baseball team split with Salem earlier today at Kenny Greenlief Field, falling in the first game 15-8 but winning game two by a score of 8-5. The Pioneers finished with double-digit hits in both contests.
Game One – GSU 8 | Salem 15
Salem jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage in the 1st, eventually adding onto their lead in the 3rd with three more runs, making it 5-0. The Pioneers trimmed their deficit to four in the 4th on a Zac Bayor no-doubter. In the 5th, GSU was able to tie it up at five all on a Zach Morris RBI single, a wild pitch and a 2-RBI single from Bayor.
The Tigers didn't take long to get the lead back and put it out of reach, plating nine runs in the 6th. Another run for Salem in the top of the 7th made it 14-5 with Glenville scoring three in the bottom of the 7th, however it was much too late as SU secured the 15-8 win.

Carlos De Jesus led the Pioneer bats with three hits while three others had two hits. Zac Bayor finished with 3 RBI and Mason Lohr added 2 RBI in the defeat. Christopher Thompson was handed the loss following three innings of relief, giving up two runs (both earned). In total, five pitchers were used for GSU.
Four Tigers had two hits, led by Jacob Hurley's two hits and 3 RBI. Tyler Shinn and Nathan Kuhn ended the game with 2 RBI. After coming out of the pen, Jhayden Raineri was given the win, his first of the year.
Game Two – GSU 8 | Salem 5
Fabian Escalante hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st to put up the first runs of the game. A six-run 4th inning for the Pioneers saw three more GSU home runs as Zac Bayor, Carlos De Jesus and Adam Bright all went deep to make it an 8-0 game. Salem began chipping away at the lead in the 5th, hitting a three-run home run. They added two more runs in the 6th but Grant Landis shut the door in the 7th, giving the Pioneers the 8-5 win.

Three Pioneers recorded two hits while Fabian Escalante, Zac Bayor and Adam Bright all had 2 RBI each. Cole Grady went five innings, taking the win with six strikeouts and three runs allowed (all earned) on three hits and one walk.
The Tigers had six different hitters finish with a hit, led by Brett Ehr's three-run home run. Colby Scheuber was handed the loss following 3.1 innings of seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and no walks.
