AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Glenville State Softball team split yesterday at THE Spring Games, falling to Minnesota Duluth 2-1 in nine innings to start the day. GSU bounced back with a 5-0 win over Wayne State College to mark the Pioneers halfway through their spring break trip to the sunshine state.
Game One – GSU 1 | UMD 2 (9 Inn.)
It was a pitching battle all the way through as neither team could muster any runs until the 6th inning. The sixth inning saw the most offense of the game, with the Pioneers scoring on a Kaitlyn Rizor double to right-center and the Bulldogs plating a run on an RBI single. The game would go into extra innings, where UMD would win on error by the Pioneers.

Four Pioneers finished with a hit, led by Kaitlyn Rizor's RBI. Kylie Burdick went five innings while Meghan Stump pitched four innings of relief, taking the loss.
Corrie Weise and Tori Wietgrefe led the Bulldogs with two hits each. Nicole Schmitt and Kendal Jenkins both had an RBI. Lauren Dixon pitched all nine innings, striking out 10 and giving up one run (earned) on four hits and three walks.
Game Two – GSU 5 | WSC 0
The Pioneers got the bats rolling early, plating three runs in the top of the 2nd on a Monica Rodelo RBI single and a 2-run HR by Addison Aguiniga. Kaitlyn Cassay continued her domination throughout the game, not allowing the Wildcats to trim into the Pioneer lead. GSU added a few insurance runs in the top of the 7th thanks to an error and an RBI single from Delaney Warnick. Kassay shut the door in the bottom of the 7th, securing the 5-0 win for the Pioneers.

Five different Pioneers finished with a hit while four picked up an RBI, led by Addison Aguiniga's 2 RBI. Kylee Goodman, Delaney Warnick and Monica Rodelo all finished with an RBI. Caitlyn Kassay pitched a complete game shutout, striking out four and allowing five hits with no walks.
Jordyn Rochholz led WSC with two hits, followed by three other Wildcats finishing with one. Wayne State used three pitchers with start Sami Felt recording the loss after four innings of work, surrendering three runs (all earned) on three hits.
