WHEELING, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team blew out 10th seeded Frostburg State 95-59 tonight in the opening round of the MEC Tournament. The Pioneers shot 46% from the field, knocked down 13 three-pointers and outrebounded the Bobcats 64-31.
GSU took the lead from the start with a Jordan Turbo Smith layup and would eventually be up 7-0 until Frostburg State got on the board. GSU began to create separation as the under 5-minute media timeout neared, leading 33-21. A strong close to the half allowed the Pioneers to boost their lead to 19 (44-25) going into the locker room.
The momentum that the blue and white built at the end of the 1st half carried into the second half, growing the advantage to 63-32 with 13:15 remaining in the game. FSU couldn't stop the Pioneer attack while struggling to create second chance opportunities, allowing GSU to run away with the 95-59 victory.
