AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Glenville State Softball team went (3-1) in their final four games of THE Spring Games, defeating Ashland 3-1 and Seton Hill 11-6 yesterday before splitting with Dominican Univ. Of New York (W, 3-0) and College of Saint Rose (L, 2-1) today.
THURSDAY
Game One – GSU 3 | Ashland 1
Makenna Negley got the scoring started for the Pioneers, grounding out but bringing Shelby McDaniels home after the bases were loaded. Ashland knotted the game up at one on an RBI double in the top of the 3rd. The offenses went quiet until Kylee Goodman broke the tie in the bottom of the 5th with a home run. Addison Aguiniga then gave Holly Brehm an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when she hit an RBI single. Brehm then secured the win for the Pioneers by forcing three-straight flyouts in the 7th.

Kylee Goodman finished with two hits and an RBI to lead the Pioneers. Addison Aguiniga and Makenna Negley both recorded an RBI as well. Holly Brehm went seven innings, striking out three and allowing one run (earned) on three hits and two walks.
Three Eagles produced a hit in the loss while Madison Milligan took the loss, giving up two runs (both earned) on four hits and three walks.
Game Two – GSU 11 | SHU 6
The second game of the day on Thursday was much different than the first as the Pioneers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings of play, scoring on a Makenna Negley RBI double, a grand slam from Delaney Warnick and a solo shot from Kaitlyn Rizor. Seton Hill cut the Pioneer lead in half in the 2nd on a 2-run HR and an error by the blue and white. After GSU made it 7-3 on an Emma McLean homer, SHU answered back with a single that brought in two during the 3rd.
Makenna Negley and Emily Nolan both hit RBI singles in the 4th to give the Pioneers more of a cushion. SHU plated a run in the 4th but GSU would pull away with a Delaney Warnick 2-run blast in the 5th, eventually closing out the Griffins 11-6.

Kylee Goodman and Kaitlyn Rizor both had three hits while three other Pioneers recorded two hits, led by Delaney Warnick's two hits and 6 RBI. Holly Brehm pitched four innings of relief, picking up the win after surrendering just one run (earned) on six hits and a walk.
The Griffins were led by Camryn Murphy and Brooklyn Fukushima, who both had three hits in the loss. Grace Parades and Mackenzie Zang finished with 2 RBI apiece. Lauren Dellett took the loss after three innings of work, allowing seven runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
FRIDAY
Game One – GSU 3 | Dominican-NY 0
The first four innings of the contest saw a scoreless game, however that changed in the 5th inning when Emily Nolan broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single up the middle. After Caitlyn Kassay continued to hold the Chargers scoreless, she was rewarded with two more runs in the top of the 7th as Addison Aguiniga laid down a bunt which forced an errant throw by the DUNY defense, plating two runs for the Pioneers. Kassay held it down once again in the 7th, securing the Pioneer win.

Delaney Warnick and Emily Nolan picked up two hits with Nolan picking up the lone Pioneer RBI. Caitlyn Kassay pitched a complete game, giving up just four hits and striking out two.
Madison Walker led the Dominican-New York squad with two hits while two other Chargers picked up a hit. Emily Baxter was handed the loss following a complete game that saw her give up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and no walks.
Game Two – GSU 1 | College of SR 2
Much like game one of the day, neither team could muster much offense in the first four innings. Delaney Warnick got the Pioneers on the board first with a fielder's choice. Saint Rose used the sixth inning to their advantage, plating two runs on an RBI single and a sac fly to take the lead at 2-1. GSU produced a two out single in the top of the 7th, however SR was able to force a popup to take the victory.

Kylee Goodman ended the game with two hits and Delaney Warnick had the only Pioneer RBI. Meghan Stump was given the loss after six innings of production, giving up two runs (both unearned) on three hits and one walk. She also struck out five.
Three Golden Knights finished with a hit, led by Kelsey Higgins' one hit and RBI. Adian Sheeren came out of the pen, pitching two innings of no-run relief to pick up the win.
