Baseball Sweeps WVSU in Sunday Doubleheader, Earns Series Split

INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Baseball team earned a series split with a doubleheader sweep of West Virginia State today, defeating the Yellow Jackets 14-0 in game one and 12-6 in game two.

Game One – GSU 14 | WVSU 0
The Pioneers put their first runs of the game on the board in the top of the 2nd on a 2-RBI single from Carles De Jesus. A few innings later, GSU added five runs to make it 7-0 with Lance Minson smashing a two-run HR, Luis Liriano and Mason Lohr walking runs in and Fabian Escalante hitting a sac fly.

As Austin Corn continued to roll, the Pioneers kept on giving him more runs. In the bottom of the 5th, De Jesus (RBI single), Liriano (2-run double) and Lohr (RBI single, wild pitch) all contributed to another five-run inning. Minson hit home run number two of the game and De Jesus also went deep in the 6th, making it 14-0 Pioneers. With the large lead, GSU finished out the Yellow Jackets with a lopsided victory.
