GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Baseball team split with the Golden Eagles to complete their four-game set with Charleston, losing the first contest 2-1 but bouncing back in the second game with a 15-2 blowout.
Game One – GSU 1 | UC 2
Charleston took advantage of a leadoff walk to start the game, bringing the Golden Eagle around on an RBI single to take an early lead. Austin Corn and UC's Trace Hartman got into a pitcher's duel as the game saw no runs for the next four innings of play. Adam Bright finally got GSU on the board in the bottom of the 5th, tying it up at one all. With two outs in the top of the 7th, a wild pitch allowed Charleston to regain the advantage. Down to their final outs, Glenville went down in order as UC secured the 2-1 victory.

Five different Pioneers picked up a hit with Adam Bright recording the lone RBI. Austin Corn was fantastic, going six innings with one run (earned) on three hits and seven strikeouts. Nathan Farmer was handed the loss out of the pen.
Casey Finck led the Golden Eagles with two hits and an RBI. Scott Templeton picked up the win, going 2.2 innings out of the bullpen with four strikeouts and just one hit.
Game Two – GSU 15 | UC 2
Fabian Escalante put the Pioneers on the board first in the bottom of the 1st with a 2-RBI triple. Two more runs were scored in the bottom of the 2nd on a throwing error by the catcher. Zac Bayor produced a sac fly and Lance Minson went from second to home on another error by the catcher in the bottom of the 3rd, extending the lead to 6-0.
UC trimmed the deficit to four on a two-run HR in the top of the 4th, however GSU answered with three runs of their own on an RBI single from Fabian Escalante and an illegal pitch, which allowed the Pioneers to plate two on the unusual play. In the 5th, Mason Lohr got Glenville to 10 runs with a sac fly, followed up by a five-run 7th inning that saw Zac Bayor go deep for two runs, a wild pitch that led to a run, an RBI walk and an RBI HBP. Ty Walton closed the door in the 7th, ending the 15-2 ballgame in favor of the Pioneers.

Adam Bright, Fabian Escalante and Luke Sweigart all finished with two hits while four other GSU hitters had one hit. Escalante (4 RBI), Zac Bayor (3 RBI), Jesus Del Valle (2 RBI), Zach Morris (1 RBI) and Mason Lohr (1 RBI) all contributed in the win. Four Glenville pitchers took the bump with Christopher Thompson receiving the W.
JD Armstrong had two hits while Brayden McCallister finished with a hit and both of UC's RBI's. Dwayne Sumler went just one inning, surrendering four runs (all earned) on three hits and a walk to take the loss.
