TROUTVILLE, Va. - The Glenville State Softball team fell to Notre Dame College 2-1 last night to open the MEC Tournament at the Botetourt Softball Complex. The Pioneers had just four hits and recorded two errors in the defeat.

It was a pitcher's duel through the first three innings as Holly Brehm nor Notre Dame's Grace Fisher allowed a run. In the 4th inning, NDC capitalized off a pair of Glenville State errors to plate the first run of the game. The Pioneers then turned around in the 5th inning to tie the game up on an Addison Aguiniga RBI single through the 5-6 gap of the infield.
The Falcons were able to regain the lead in the top of the 6th, playing small ball with a walk and three singles. The bases were loaded with two outs but the Pioneers managed the damage to one run. However, Notre Dame held GSU scoreless in the final two innings of the contest, winning 2-1.

Four Pioneers were accountable for the four hits, led by Addison Aguiniga's one hit and RBI. Holly Brehm took the loss, going 6.1 innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits, five walks and eight strikeouts.
Katelyn DeWeese and Jocelyn Quior led the Falcons with two hits each while Ella Collinsworth finished with a hit and an RBI. Grace Fisher allowed one run (earned) on four hits and walk with 12 strikeouts, pitching the full seven innings to take the win.
