THE OPPONENT
CHARLESTON
2025 Season
University of Charleston (6–6–3, 5–4–3 MEC) enter Wednesday's matchup looking to bounce back after a hard-fought 1–0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan on October 26. Charleston has been a dangerous attacking team throughout the season, capable of putting up goals in bunches and earning results against strong MEC opponents.Â
Quick Look at the Golden Eagles:
They're led by Li-Lou Debaecker (7 goals) and Sydney Crowe (5 goals), and already claimed a 1–0 win over Glenville earlier this year on September 21. With both teams fighting for position in the conference standings, this matchup has major late-season implications.Â
WEST VIRGINIA STATE
2025 Season
West Virginia State (11–3–1, 11–1–1 MEC) continue to roll late in the year, currently on a three-match win streak and sitting near the top of the conference standings. They've built their success around one of the most dangerous attacks in the MEC, outscoring opponents 39–16.
Quick Look at The Yellow Jackets
Their attack is led by Leila Karam (10 goals), with Laura Pouedras and María Alejandra Hernández Díaz adding creativity and balance. WVSU won the first meeting of the season against Glenville, 3-1, in Institute back on September 14.Â
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2025 Season
Glenville State (6–8–1, 5–6–1 MEC) head into this week in solid form after a 2–0 senior day win over Davis & Elkins. Glenville has won four of its last six, including key results over Wheeling, West Liberty and Salem, showing growth and confidence down the stretch.Â
Quick Look atÂ
Solares Solano leads the attack with nine goals, while Valentina Quiroz and Natalia Bernal continue to be impact players in the final third. Glenville's defense and goalkeepers Lucia Lopez and Anjolie Colon have been sharp, with three shutouts in the last five matches.Â
This two-game stretch provides a major opportunity to pick up valuable points and strengthen their position heading into the final week of the regular season. Â
