WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers took the opening game of the 2025-26 campaign at the Carol Eckman Memorial Classic earlier today, beating 2024-25 PSAC Tournament champion Kutztown, 64-60.
1st Half
Ashlyn Riley opened the scoring with a mid-range jump shot, but GSU would trail by one at the end of one quarter after KU scored the final basket. Nwando Okigbo scored the first three Lady Pioneer points of the second stanza, and back-to-back three pointers from Riley and Marshall transfer Jayda Allie put the blue and white up three midway through the quarter. The Lady Pioneers would only trail by one at halftime.
2nd Half
Allie and Wonder Nkoyock opened the second half with a three-point basket to push the Lady Pioneer lead to five and free throws from Carine Pinkney would ensure that GSU held the lead after three quarters. Okigbo started off the fourth quarter scoring with a made jump shot, and Riley would go on a personal five-to-zero run to give the Lady Pioneers the lead for good. Two free throws from Nylah Davis in the closing seconds sealed the win for Glenville State, 64-60.

Kutztown
Olivia Smelas and Ariana Smuda led the team with 13 points and Danae Ellzy had 11 while Bella Quinn led the team with five assists and Smuda also led the team in rebounding with 10.
Glenville State
Jayda Allie had 13 points to lead the Lady Pioneers, while Nwando Okigbo had 12 and Ashlyn Riley had 11. Carine Pinkney and Payton James both had two assists apiece and Okigbo also pulled down 11 rebounds. Defensively, Nylah Davis had three steals to lead the team as the Lady Pioneers had 10 steals as a team.
