WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Glenville State Women's Basketball team used a fourth quarter comeback to beat regional foe West Chester on Saturday (Nov. 15), 71-68, in the Carol Eckman Memorial Clasic.
1st Half
The Rams scored the first two points of the game, but Nwando Okigbo immediately answered for GSU, making a three pointer. The teams would trade baskets in quarter one, and a layup from WCU would make the score 20-19 in favor of the road team after the first ten minutes. In the first few minutes of quarter two, both teams were scoring and neither team could pull away from the other, but a three-point shot from Jayda Allie and Payton James gave GSU the lead. From there, a nine to zero run to end the half by the Rams would put them up by five going into the locker room at 41-36.
2nd Half
West Chester opened the scoring with a three-point basket and a layup to extend their lead, but points from Keanti Thompson, Wonder Nkoyock and Carine Pinkney put the Lady Pioneer deficit at just five at the end of three quarters. GSU then outscored the Rams by eight in the final ten minutes with scores from Okigbo and Tompson to start the quarter, and the blue and white would take the lead after back-to-back three pointers from James and Allie as the Lady Pioneers hung on to win, 71-68.
Final Stats
West Chester
Lena Stein led the Rams in scoring with 17 while Erin Daley and Bella Mazur both had 13. Stein had 13 rebounds as well, which led the team in the loss.
Glenville State
Nwando Okigbo had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead GSU with Carine Pinkney and Jayda Allie adding12 apiece. Payton James made two three-pointers and two free throws and Pinkney shot 50% from the field and recorded three assists. Defensively, James and Ashlyn Riley had four steals, and as a team, the Lady Pioneers had 15 takeaways.

Glenville State will travel to Slippery Rock for another regional matchup next Saturday (Nov. 22). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
