Women's Basketball Use Fourth Quarter Comeback to Beat West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Glenville State Women's Basketball team used a fourth quarter comeback to beat regional foe West Chester on Saturday (Nov. 15), 71-68, in the Carol Eckman Memorial Clasic.

1st Half
The Rams scored the first two points of the game, but Nwando Okigbo immediately answered for GSU, making a three pointer. The teams would trade baskets in quarter one, and a layup from WCU would make the score 20-19 in favor of the road team after the first ten minutes. In the first few minutes of quarter two, both teams were scoring and neither team could pull away from the other, but a three-point shot from Jayda Allie and Payton James gave GSU the lead. From there, a nine to zero run to end the half by the Rams would put them up by five going into the locker room at 41-36.

2nd Half
West Chester opened the scoring with a three-point basket and a layup to extend their lead, but points from Keanti Thompson, Wonder Nkoyock and Carine Pinkney put the Lady Pioneer deficit at just five at the end of three quarters. GSU then outscored the Rams by eight in the final ten minutes with scores from Okigbo and Tompson to start the quarter, and the blue and white would take the lead after back-to-back three pointers from James and Allie as the Lady Pioneers hung on to win, 71-68.
