Knott Scores 1000th Point, Redfern Drops 25 as Pioneers Hand Seton Hill First Loss of Season

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – In a matchup against previously unbeaten Seton Hill, the Glenville State Men's Basketball team delivered a statement 86-76 victory on Saturday (Nov. 29) afternoon inside the Waco Center. The Pioneers erased a second-half deficit with a dominant closing run, securing their third win of the season and handing the Griffins their first loss of the year.

1st Half
Glenville State came out firing, forcing three early Seton Hill turnovers and jumping ahead 5-0 behind a transition jumper from Elijah Redfern and a deep three by Don Colon-Lewis. Redfern stayed aggressive, scoring eight points in the first five minutes, while Prince Mosengo and Ammar Maxwell added baskets inside to keep the Pioneers in front. Midway through the half, Seton Hill made its push behind the inside-out play of Dimitrios Sklavenitis and Edir Ortiz, trimming the deficit to 18-15. Redfern, however, answered immediately with another three and a pull-up jumper to rebuild the lead.

Glenville State's ball movement carried the next stretch. Colon-Lewis knocked down multiple midrange jumpers, Mosengo finished a dunk in transition and Rye Gadd buried a corner three to give the Pioneers their largest lead of the half at 34-21. Seton Hill responded with a late flurry from the perimeter, but a clutch three from Jalen Knott and a smooth jumper by Colon-Lewis sent Glenville State into the locker room with a 47-41 advantage.

2nd Half
Seton Hill opened the second half with energy, cutting GSU's lead to one at 49-48 behind baskets from Ortiz and Camden Brewer. Redfern answered again with a layup, but the Griffins briefly grabbed a 52-51 lead after a second-chance finish from Brian Belade. That would be Seton Hill's final surge.

Glenville State locked in defensively and closed the game on a dominant run. A pair of free throws from Maxwell tied the game at 52-52, and moments later Knott drilled a deep three to swing momentum back to the Pioneers. Colon-Lewis followed with a clutch left-wing triple, and Mosengo scored inside to push the lead to 66-64. From there, GSU took full control.

Back-to-back defensive stops led to another Knott three, Gadd converted a tough layup and free throw, and Redfern delivered the dagger with a transition finish to stretch the margin to 79-73. In the final two minutes, the Pioneers forced multiple turnovers and sealed the victory at the line, outscoring Seton Hill 13-3 down the stretch.
