BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team completed the season sweep of Bluefield State on Saturday (Dec. 20), surviving a wild finish and overtime to earn an 82–78 road win inside Ned Shott Gymnasium. With the victory, GSU jumped back above .500 at (6-5) on the year.
First Half — Glenville Blitzes Early
Glenville State came out firing and built separation fast. Don Colon-Lewis opened the scoring with a three, and the Pioneers kept stacking stops and buckets behind a hot-shooting start. Jalen Knott knocked down multiple threes during the opening surge, and GSU carried a 47–28 lead into halftime after shooting 7-of-13 from deep in the first 20 minutes.
Second Half — A Late Bomb Sends It to OT
Bluefield State stormed back after the break, cutting into the margin with tougher defense, second-chance effort, and timely shot-making. The Big Blues' rally set up a dramatic finish, and with Glenville trying to hold on late, Anthony Davenport drilled a game-tying three with 1.3 seconds left in regulation to make it 70–70 and force overtime.
Overtime — Knott Closes It
In the extra period, the Pioneers settled in and made the plays it needed. Knott buried another big three, and the Pioneers got key rebounds and late free throws to finish it off and escape with the four-point win, 82-78.
