Men's Basketball Powers Past Point Park, 100-73

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball opened 2026 in a big way Saturday (Jan. 3) afternoon, pulling away from Point Park with a dominant second half to secure a 100–73 win inside the Waco Center. After going into the break up just one (42–41), the Pioneers flipped the switch in the final 20 minutes with timely threes, second-chance points, and a defensive surge that turned a tight game into a runaway.

First Half
Glenville State came out aggressive early, getting momentum from transition and the glass. Jalen Knott knocked down a pair of early triples to set the tone, while Prince Mosengo and Don Colon-Lewis created extra possessions with tip-ins and hustle plays inside.

Point Park answered with shot-making of its own — trading threes and attacking the paint to stay right with GSU throughout the half. The visitors briefly tied it at 39–39 late, but Glenville responded before the horn with a Knott three to take a 42–41 edge into halftime.

Second Half
The Pioneers came out of the locker room sharp and immediately started stretching the lead. Ammar Maxwell drilled a three to open the half, and Glenville followed that with a run built on offensive rebounds and finishing around the rim — including back-to-back tip-ins by Mosengo and Colon-Lewis that kept Point Park chasing.

Midway through the half, Glenville's outside shooting blew the game open. Elijah Redfern and Knott hit key threes during a stretch where the lead jumped to 15+ and the Waco Center got loud. Point Park made a push behind a few quick scores and a couple threes to cut into it, but Glenville answered every time — whether it was another deep ball, a strong finish, or another second-chance bucket.

Glenville State put the finishing touches on the win by emptying the bench in the final minutes, but the energy never dipped. When Julian Kelly stepped to the line and knocked down his first career collegiate points, the moment said everything about the night — unselfish, connected, and earned. The bench erupted, the crowd responded, and the Pioneers walked off the floor having delivered a complete performance in their return from the break.
