Charleston, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers fell in their conference opener Wednesday (Dec. 3) night, losing 90-78 at Charleston after the Golden Eagles exploded for 30 first-quarter points. GSU is now (3-2, 0-1 MEC) on the young season.
1st Half
To start the game, GSU fell behind seven-zero, but a three-pointer from Ashlyn Riley would put the Lady Pioneers on the board. UC was able to keep Glenville State at bay in the first quarter, only allowing 12 points for the visitors. The blue and white would respond with a thirty-point quarter of their own in the second stanza to cut into the Charleston lead as Carine Pinkney had three early baskets to start the second quarter. Glenville State cut the lead to 11 twice with threes from Nylah Davis and Khalia Bryant, but the score at the end of the first half would be 54-42.
2nd Half
The third quarter was back and forth, as Payton James started the scoring for GSU, while Khalia Bryant would add seven third quarter points. Stevi Yancy closed out the third with a three-point shot to cut the deficit to 15. In the fourth, the Lady Pioneers attempted to cut down the UC lead with five quick points from Jayda Allie, but nine points was as close as they could get, falling 90-78.

Harper Annarino led the team with 22 points, Livia O'dea had 21, and the Golden Eagles had three other double figure scorers as Ksenija Mitric had 12, Bridget Womber had 12, and Paris Stokes had 11. Harper and Womber both recorded double-doubles with 13 and 15 rebounds respectively.
Glenville State
Khalia Bryant led GSU in scoring with 19 points while also pulling down 13 rebounds and shooting 80% from the floor and 3-3 from three-point range. Carine Pinkney had 14 points, and Nylah Davis had ten, shooting 3-4 from beyond the arc, while also recording three steals. Jayda Allie scored eight, Stevi Yancy scored seven, and Nwando Okigbo had six points and six boards.
