GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Softball team split day one of the Sue Morris Sports Complex Classic earlier today, plating an astonishing 24 runs against Bluefield State but falling to Gannon, an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, 4-3.
Game One (5 Inn.) – GSU 24 | Bluefield State 3
The first inning was no indication on the outcome of the game as both teams were scoreless in the opening frame of the game. An 11-run second inning was started by
Addison Aguiniga's grand slam, followed by RBI knocks by
Shelby McDaniels,
Kylee Goodman,
Monica Rodelo and
Makenna Negley. 10 runs came across in the following inning with
Delaney Warnick mashing two home runs, including a grand slam and
Monica Rodelo going deep. Three more Pioneer runs were scored in the top of the 4
th and Bluefield State finally got on the board in the 5
th as Glenville State closed the game out in five innings, 24-3.

Paige Whittingham had the lone hit for the Big Blue while Kyla Jones and La'Naeyah Ayers contributed with RBIs. Jackie Sandy only went 1.1 innings before being pulled, being handed the loss with five runs allowed (earned) on two hits and two walks.
Glenville State
Eight different Pioneers recorded a hit with
Shelby McDaniels,
Kylee Goodman,
Delaney Warnick and
Monica Rodelo all finishing with two knocks. Warnick (6 RBI),
Makenna Negley (5 RBI) and
Addison Aguiniga (4 RBI) had heavy production as three other Pioneers knocked in two runs.
AndiJo Howard went three innings, striking out two and allowing just one hit.
Game Two – GSU 4 | Gannon 3
The Golden Knights got things started on a two-run HR in the bottom of the 2
nd but
Kylee Goodman inched the Pioneers closer in the top of the 3
rd with an RBI single. Gannon quickly went back up by two runs with an RBI double down the line in the bottom of the 3
rd.
Addie Hicks came across to score on an
Addison Aguiniga steal attempt in the top of the 5
th to make it 3-2, however GU once again quickly answered back in the bottom half of the inning, going back up by two runs.
Delaney Warnick homered for the third time of the day in the top of the 6
th to make it a one run game. However, the Pioneers couldn't muster together anymore offense and the Golden Knight defense finished out strong, handing GSU the 4-3 defeat.

The Golden Knights were led by Abbey Girman's 2 RBIs with Kloie Troutman and Natalia Mallozzi adding one RBI apiece. Katie Armstrong was tabbed the win after five innings of work, allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits and two walks. She also struck out five.
Glenville State
Five Pioneers recorded a hit as
Kylee Goodman and
Delaney Warnick chimed in with a knock and RBI each.
Kylie Burdick was tabbed the loss after four innings of work, giving up three runs (all earned) on three hits and two walks. She struck out seven in the defeat.
