WILSON, N.C. – The Glenville State Baseball team completed the Wilson Tobs Classic on Saturday (Feb. 8), winning their third-straight game in convincing fashion, 15-5, over Chestnut Hill. The Pioneers finished the four-game trip (3-1).

It was a much quieter game in the opening innings as the scoreboard stood at a standstill first the first four innings. The Pioneers busted it open with nine runs in the fifth inning, headlined by 2-RBI hits from
Gavin Blair,
Austin Carter and
Carlos De Jesus. CHU put their first run of the game on the board in the bottom half of the inning, however GSU answered back with a run in the 6
th, three in the 7
th and two more in the 8
th to go up 15-1. Chestnut Hill plated four runs in the bottom of the 9
th but it was far too late as the Pioneers secured their third-straight victory, 15-5.

Eight different Griffins recorded a hit while five recorded an RBI. Six Griffins pitched with Kelly picking up the loss after giving up seven runs (all earned) in 4.2 innings.
Glenville State
Seven different Pioneers accounted for the seven hits while
Gavin Blair and
Austin Carter led the charge with three RBIs each.
Carlos De Jesus produced two RBIs in the win. Five Pioneers touched the mound with
Cameron Byers receiving the win after 1.2 innings of work. Byers struck out two while
Luka Moore fanned three out the pen in relief.

The Pioneers are back for yet another busy week starting tomorrow (Mar. 11) with Bluefield State. It is a single 9-inning game with a 3 p.m. start time.
