GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Baseball team plated double-digit runs for the second-consecutive game on Tuesday (Mar. 11) when the Pioneers defeated Bluefield State, 16-10.

The Big Blue got on the board first with an RBI groundout, however the Pioneers answered back mightily with a two-run home run from
Adam Bright in the bottom half of the inning. An error allowed GSU to extend their early advantage to 3-1. BSU regained the lead with two runs in the 3
rd and two in the 4
th but a four spot by Glenville State in the bottom half of the 4
th gave the Pioneers the advantage back. Eight more runs would be plated by GSU between the 5
th and 6
th innings, making it a 10-run game.
Bluefield State trimmed the deficit down to six before a sac fly from
Luka Moore put the Pioneer lead back to seven. In the top of the 9
th, BSU scored one final run before
Cameron Byers shut the door, securing the 16-10 victory for the Pioneers.

Kevin Rodriguez recorded three hits while James Germosen led the Big Blue with three RBIs. Three other Bluefield State hitters had two RBIs each in the defeat. Five pitchers took the mound for BSU with Will Austin taking the loss after 3.2 innings of work where he allowed seven runs (three earned) on five hits and five walks.

Eight Pioneers accounted for their 12 hits with four GSU mashers finishing with two hits each.
Zach Laurie had a day, going 2-for-4 with a homer and 5 RBIs while
Adam Bright added four RBIs and Zac Bay finished with three RBIs. It was a bullpen game for the Pioneers with
Nathan Farmer picking up the victory.

The Pioneers are back at the SMSC tomorrow (Mar. 14) to open Mountain East Conference play against Fairmont State in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
