ELKINS, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team fell in both matchups today at Davis & Elkins, losing game one ,19-0, in five innings and game two, 6-5. The Pioneers record now stands at (15-10, 5-3 MEC).
Game One – GSU 0 | D&E 19 (5 Inn.)
The Senators would start the game off hot as they scored five runs in the first inning to take an early lead. In the second inning, the Pioneers were unable to find an answer for the Senators batters as D&E added 10 more runs to their total to make it a fifteen-run lead. The Pioneers prevented the Senators from scoring in the third inning, but Davis & Elkins would extend their advantage again in the fourth with four more runs to lead by nineteen. A scoreless fifth inning closed the game, 19-0 in favor of the Senators.

The Senators produced seventeen hits with three different players leading the team with three knocks apiece. Alyssa Haynes would bat five runners in for the Senators to lead the way. Sammie Jarvis took the win and struck out three while giving up zero runs in the victory.
Glenville State
Addie Hicks had the only hit for the Pioneers in game one. Meghan Stump picked up the loss after pitching two innings, striking out two and allowing six hits and five runs.
Game Two – GSU 5 | D&E 6
In the second game of the day, the Pioneers would look to get things rolling early as they scored two runs in the first inning. The Senators managed to score one run in the bottom of the first inning to cut the Pioneers lead in half. In the bottom of the third inning. D&E used a two-run home run to jump above the Pioneers. Hannah Howe answered back with a two-run home run of her own to give GSU the lead right back. In the fifth inning, the Senators knotted the game up before using their momentum in the sixth inning to score two more runs and lead by two. Entering the final inning of the game, the Pioneers produced a run to trim the deficit to one but they fell short, losing 6-5.

Three Senators led the team in hits with two each while three D&E hitters each hit a home run in the game. Saylor Kneeland pitched three innings, striking out two and giving up seven hits.
Glenville State
Makenna Negley led the Pioneers in hits with three and Hannah Howe led the team with three RBIs. Kylie Burdick pitched six innings in which she struck out four.
