GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team split their midweek doubleheader with Concord earlier today, falling in game one, 7-3, and winning game two in five innings, 8-0. The Pioneers are now (16-11, 6-4 MEC).
Game One – GSU 3 | CU 7
In the first inning of the day, the Mountain Lions would have a strong start, erupting for five runs. The Pioneers scored their first run in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a single from Kylee Goodman. The Mountain Lions increased their lead in the third inning by scoring two more runs to make their lead six. In an effort to dig themselves out of a hole, the Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to four. From there, neither team could muster anymore offense, securing the 7-3 victory for Concord.

Gianna Sloan-Lebron got two hits and two RBIs for the Mountain Lions while Alina Giles would be responsible for three of the Mountain Lions runs, scoring twice and batting in one runner. Madison Hollis would take the win and strike out three while giving up three runs on nine hits.
Glenville State
Delaney Warnick and Makenna Negley combined for four of the Pioneers nine total hits, having two hits apiece. Meghan Stump picked up the loss after pitching all seven innings, striking out three and allowing 11 hits and seven runs.
Game Two – GSU 8 | CU 0
After a scoreless first inning, the Pioneers scored the first run of game two in the second inning, setting the tone early. They would follow up the next inning, scoring two more runs as the Pioneers batters were starting to get hot. GSU went into the fourth inning with a three-run lead where they would more than double their lead in this inning, scoring four runs to lead the Mountain Lions by seven runs. The Mountain Lions were unable to get things going unlike in the first game and Glenville State took advantage of this, scoring one more run in the fifth inning to put the game away in just five innings, 8-0.

Reghan Hintz and Alina Giles had the only two hits in game two for the Mountain Lions. Mahailey Nicholson pitched three innings, striking out two and giving up five hits and four runs.
Glenville State
Kylee Goodman and Zailees Seda both led the Pioneers in hits and RBIs with three hits and two RBIs each. Kylie Burdick pitched five innings, in which she struck out five and allowed only two hits.
