Goodman's Home Run Keeps Game Alive, Wild Pitch in 8th Secures Season Split for Pioneers with Charleston

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team split their doubleheader against the University of Charleston today, losing the first game, 4-3 but coming back from behind in the second game to win 5-4 in extra innings. The Pioneers record now stands at (17-12, 7-5 MEC).

Game One – GSU 3 | UC 4
In the first inning, the Pioneers got on the board first after a double from Delaney Warnick that would allow Kylee Goodman to score. In the top of the second inning, the Golden Eagles scored two runs to take the lead but Glenville State managed to answer back with some offense of their own in the following inning, scoring two runs to take their lead back. In the top of the fourth, the Golden Eagles got their offense rolling again, scoring two more runs to regain the lead. For the rest of the game, the Pioneers would be unable to get any offense going as they fell to the Golden Eagles, 4-3, in the first game of the day.

In the top of the seventh inning, UC plated two to take the lead, setting up a last chance cafe attempt for GSU. Despite being down, Glenville State found an answer with a two-run home run from Kylee Goodman to tie the game up. In extra innings, Charleston kept up their hot streak on offense and scored another run to take the lead right back.
