Preview: Baseball Hosts Davis & Elkins for Pivotal Series

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Baseball continues their eight-game homestand with a four-game set against MEC South opponent Davis & Elkins this weekend at the Sue Morris Sports Complex. Games are set for 1 p.m. on Friday (Apr. 18) and Saturday (Apr. 19) due to the Easter holiday.

THE OPPONENT

The Senators are currently (6-28) overall and (5-13 MEC), coming off a series split with Charleston in their last weekend of games.

They are led by Mason Brenneman, hitting .352 with eight RBIs and Larry Kusan, who is hitting .346 with 15 RBIs. On the mound, Cooper Blackburn has the team-best ERA at 6.69 in 35 innings pitched and Ethan Marshall has a 7.15 ERA in 50 innings, allowing 70 hits and 40 earned runs.

The Pioneers are (17-19) overall with a (6-12) conference mark and is coming off a (3-1) weekend against WVSU last time out.

The Pioneers are led by their pitching staff as Cole Grady, Grant Landis, Luka Moore and Cameron Byers all have sub-four ERAs while Trent Taylor is coming off another excellent start as he worked into the fifth inning and allowed just one run. Ashton Crace is also coming off his best outing as a Pioneer, striking out three batters in two innings. Offensively, Quinn Lenamon and Luke Sweigart had their best weekends thus far as Lenamon went 4-for-12 with a home run, double and three RBIs and Sweigart went 5-for-10 with a home run and eight RBIs. Austin Carter has been solid in conference play, hitting .388 while Colby Guy is hitting .320 with three home runs and Lance Minson is hitting .318 in MEC play.
