BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team made history today with their doubleheader sweep at Salem, breaking the program's single-season wins record with their 30th victory in the second game of the DH. The Pioneers took game one, 8-2, while completing the record-breaking day with a 7-3 win in game two.

Game One - GSU 8 | Salem 2
It was a stalemate in the opening three innings at The Bridge Sports Complex with neither squad scoring. However, that quickly changed with a four-run 4th inning by the Pioneers, playing runs on a pair of doubles from
Monica Rodelo and
Emma McLean.Â
Kylie Burdick held the Tigers scoreless and GSU added onto their advantage in the 6th with a two-run shot by
Addison Aguiniga and an RBI single from
Makenna Negley. SU put their first runs of the game on the board in the bottom of the 6th before Aguiniga recorded her fourth RBI of the contest in the top of the 7th. Burdick closed out the bottom half of the seventh by inducing a double play, finishing the Pioneers 29th win, 8-2.

Salem produced just four hits by four different Tigers. Lemley had the two RBIs for SU in a 1-for-3 performance. Alvaro went five innings, taking the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits and one strikeout.

Kylee Goodman and
Makenna Negley both recorded three hits while three other Pioneers had two hits each.
Addison Aguiniga led the team with four RBIs, followed by
Emma McLean's two RBIs.
Monica Rodelo and
Makenna Negley also had an RBI each in the victory.
Kylie Burdick tied the GSU single-season wins record (16) with the W as the junior went all seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, also striking out three.

Game Two - GSU 7 | Salem 3
An error by the Pioneer defense allowed Salem to jump out to an early 1-0 lead, an advantage that would stick up into the fourth inning. In the top half of the 4
th, an RBI from
Monica Rodelo and 2-RBI double by
Emma McLean put the Pioneers in the driver's seat. Just two innings later, Zailes Seda knocked an RBI single and stole home to plate two more for GSU. The Tigers answered back in the 6
th, but a RBI double by
Delaney Warnick and RBI single from
Monica Rodelo in the top of the 7
th added plenty of insurance for the Pioneers. Though SU notched a run of their own in the bottom frame, Glenville State went on to win their 30
th game of the season, 7-3.

Lemley (3-for-4) led the Tigers while Moetului (two hits) and Harki (two hits, one RBI) helped the production. Though Lemley had a productive day at the dish, the GSU offense was able to rattle her on the mound as she gave up six runs (all earned) on 13 hits in 6.1 innings of work.

Delaney Warnick and
Emma McLean both finished with a team-leading three hits while
Zailees Seda and
Hannah Howe both added two knocks each. An additional five Pioneers finished with one hit as well. McLean (2), Rodelo (2), Warnick (1) and Seda (1) all produced RBIs for the blue and white.
Meghan Stump bounced back from her last performance with a complete game against the Tigers, picking up her eighth win of the season on three runs (one earned) allowed, eight hits, no walks and six strikeouts.
