Howard Hurles Fifth Complete Game in Doubleheader Split with Point Park

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Glenville State Softball team split with Point Park in Pittsburgh today, falling in game one, 8-7, but bounced back with a 3-1 win in game two. The Pioneers remain in first place in the MEC South Division at (31-14, 19-7 MEC)

Game One - GSU 7 | PPU 8
Following a pair of zeros in the opening inning, Addison Aguiniga got the scoring started with an RBI single in the top of the 2nd. An inning later, Monica Rodelo displayed her power with a three-run home run to make it 4-0. PPU took no time answering back, putting up a three spot in the bottom of the 3rd to trim the deficit. In the top of the 6th, Emma McLean (2-run HR) and Shelby McDaniels (RBI single) expanded the lead back to four runs. The Pioneers entered the final inning with a four-run advantage, however, an offensive barrage by Point Park spoiled the opening game. PPU was able to plate five runs, including a walk-off single.

Four different Pioneers notched two hits, led by Wahl's two knocks and two RBIs. Henry also had 2 RBIs on one hit. Wahl recorded the win in the circle as well, giving up seven runs on 13 hits and one walk.

Glenville State
Delaney Warnick and Monica Rodelo both recorded three hits while Redelo led the squad with three RBIs. Zailees Seda notched two hits and Emma McLean finished with two RBIs. Kylie Burdick was handed the loss, giving up eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits and two walks. She also struck out four in the defeat.

Game Two - GSU 3 | PPU 1
Delaney Warnick smashed her ninth home run of the season in the second inning to give GSU an early 1-0 advantage. A few innings later, Hannah Howe's RBI single made it 2-0 before Point Park got on the board via an RBI triple in the 6th. Makenna Negley added an insurance run in the 7th with an RBI single but it wouldn't be needed for AndiJo Howard, who sealed the deal in the 7th inning to secure the 3-1 win.

Taylor led the Pioneers in hits with two while Koi had the lone RBI on the day. Lee took the loss, going seven innings with three runs allowed on nine hits and three walks.

Glenville State
Three different Pioneers had two hits as well as three separate Pioneers recorded an RBI each. Makenna Negley finished with both two hits and an RBI. AndiJo Howard improved to (7-1) on the year with her fifth complete game, allowing just one run (earned) on five hits and a strikeout.

The Pioneers return to the Sue Morris Sports Complex next weekend to wrap up the regular season, first starting with Davis & Elkins on Friday (Apr. 25) in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
