Burdick & Negley Set Single-Season Records, Pioneers Split with Senators

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Softball team split their doubleheader with Davis & Elkins today, winning game one, 4-0, but falling 6-1 in game two. Kylie Burdick broke the single-season wins record at GSU with her 17th victory and Makenna Negley notched her 18th double of the year to break the single-season doubles record at GSU.

Game One – GSU 4 | D&E 0
Neither team had a hit until the 3rd inning and it wouldn't be until the 4th inning when Makenna Negley broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single down the right field line. The following inning, Shelby McDaniels made it a 2-0 game with an RBI single herself. Negley and Hannah Howe added some insurance in the 6th, pushing the lead to 4-0. The Senators made it interesting in the top of the 7th, loading the bases with two outs. However, Kylie Burdick got out of the jam with a strikeout to secure the win, 4-0.
