It was an offensive struggle for both sides all day long, combining for just seven hits between the two squads. The Pioneers placed a runner in scoring position in the opening inning and the 5th inning, but weren't able to muster any offense to bring them home. A strong pitching performance from All-MEC First Team selection Kylie Burdick kept the Cardinal offense scoreless, eventually leading to the walk-off. The Pioneers were able to escape with the win after loading the bags with no outs and Emma McLean watched the fourth and final ball go by.Â
