SALEM, Va. - The Glenville State Softball team moved on to day three of the MEC Tournament today after falling to West Liberty, 4-1, in game one but bouncing back with a 4-2 victory over Point Park. At (2-1) in the tournament, the Pioneers are one of four remaining teams in the field.
Game One - GSU 1 | WLU 4
A scoreless first wouldn't be repeated in the second inning as West Liberty used a two out, 2-RBI single that hardly dropped in centerfield to take a 2-0 lead. Both squads put runners in scoring position in the following innings, however neither team could plate another run until the 6th inning when the Hilltoppers put a two spot on the board on a double. The Pioneers threatened in the bottom half of the 6th, scoring a run on an obstruction call but that's all they could plate, making it 4-1 going into the final stanza. West Liberty didn't allow GSU to threaten again, securing the victory.

Game Two - GSU 4 | PPU 2
Point Park came out firing, opening the nightcap with two RBI singles to take an early 2-0 lead. A defensive standstill would take place up until the fifth inning, when Addison Aguiniga and Shelby McDaniels produced RBIs to make it a 2-2 ballgame. The next inning, Hannah Howe gave GSU their first lead of the day with an RBI single and then scored on an error, allowing the Pioneers to boast a two-run lead going into the 7th. After a leadoff single and a fielder's choice in the final inning by PPU, Glenville State pulled out the win with their defense doubling up Point Park for the final outs.
